The BDL regularly publishes current analyses on the development of air traffic in Germany. These include, among other things, the recovery of air traffic after the COVID-19 pandemic by market segments and destination regions, as well as the impact of high government-imposed location costs on air traffic in Germany. Through this, the BDL provides a comprehensive data base on the development of Germany’s air traffic sector.

Our Analyses …

Location Costs National unilateral measures on taxes and levies create significant distortions in competition within the internationally organized aviation sector. Since 2020 alone, government-imposed location costs in Germany have nearly doubled, which negatively impacts connectivity.

Annual Figures [in German] How did air traffic in Germany develop over the past year? What effects did political decisions have on Germany as an air traffic hub? What challenges does the industry face? These questions are the focus of the annual figures, which the BDL typically publishes in February.

Half-Year Figures [in German] The BDL provides an update on the development of air traffic in Germany with the half-year figures, which are published in August.

Forecast [in German] Every month, the BDL reports on the expected development of air traffic in Germany and Europe over the next six months. The forecast on air traffic supply includes information on planned seat availability at German airports, as well as the anticipated development of airline offerings by destination regions and business models – network airlines, point-to-point carriers, and leisure airlines.
